Hi everyone, I‘m so happy and thankful that there are MD-communities like this! I‘m 36 years old and l’m living in Germany. My Meniere-story started last year in May, when I noticed that my hearing on the left side was odd. I didn‘t take it seriously, since after a month everything was back to normal. In October, when I was in South Korea I had my first vertigo attack. I called 911, since I thought it was a stroke ^^;. The gave me a corticosteroid through IV and I was fine again. After 3 weeks and back in Germany it started again and then I have suffered an attack every 4-7 days. My ENT-doc prescribed me betahistine and I also took lysine and ginkgo biloba extract. Unfortunately they didn‘t help. Then I was in the clinic and I got 3 corticosteroid-injections. The effect lasted 2 weeks and then I suffered a very heavy attack, first time that I had to throw up. After that I started to drink fresh celery juice every morning. Already on the 2nd day I noticed that my tinnitus improved and I didn‘t have an attack for 3 weeks! But now I started to have little dizzy spells again, so I think I need something more other than the celery juice. I‘m currently trying to avoid sugar, dairy and gluten as much as possible, since i think there is some relation. Especially with sugar…
Hi, Sorry this has affected you at such an early age. My 18 year old was just diagnosed 6 weeks ago and it truly sucks! I wish I could be of help but I’m just figuring this out like yourself. I wanted however to welcome you. I can say that for the nausea and vomiting, my daughter was prescribed Zofran which immediately stopped the nausea and of course the vomiting which , at that moment is greatly helpful as it’s one less thing to worry about when already feeling dizzy. I hope you too will find ways to cope.
Thank you very much for your kind words=). Zofran is not easily prescribed in Germany, but for the worst case I have Vomex( dimenhydrinat). How often does your daughter suffer an attack? As I said, celery juice was very helpful in my case. Maybe she wants to try it too?
Welcome to the forum and I also started this journey at 36 (42 now and have been vertigo free for a few years). Looks like you’re doing all the right things by experimenting and listening to your body. I journaled for two years which helped too and I would encourage you to do the same. You’ll make it through this!
