Menieres does affect your cognition. Yes this is a part of it. There is cognition information here on the forum. Stress is a definite trigger for most of us as well. I make notes and still forget. I want to let you know you're not alone. Good Luck with the Drs visit.
Vinpocetine can eliminate or drastically reduce the cognition deficit caused by Meniere's. Info here: http://www.zoominternet.net/~kcshop/JOH.pdf --John of Ohio
Hi everyone. I'm new here. Please have patience while I write a short history. After reading that Meniere's may be a virus, I spoke to my ENT - he gave me the usual don't eat salt, etc. and gave me Lorazepam to put under my tongue to help with nausea...it didn't work. I spoke to another Dr. and explained the virus theory. He ran some blood tests in June of 2015. One of the test was for Epstein Barr which was off the charts. The other was HHV which was a little high... not bad. He started me on an experimental protocol of 4 antibiotics (anti viral, anti bacterial, fungal and one of intestinal parasites) for a year. Acyclovir - 800 mg 4 x day, Doxycycline - 100 mg 2 x day, Nitazoxanide - 500 mg 2 x day and Fluconazole - 100 mg 1 x day. The Fluconazole has been reduced to once a week. Three months ago he tried taking me off the Doxy, but put me back on because the head pressures were coming back. Since then, I am still having head pressures and they are getting worse. I had been vertigo free for 8 months until 4 weeks ago. Three vertigo attacks in 3 weeks, but there were, for the most part, light. Meaning, no nausea, etc. Last night, it felt like if I moved, I would have a bad attack. I stayed sitting up on the couch all night, afraid to move. Like everyone else, I do my research and have picked up little hints here and there... example... sleep on a wedge pillow, get up slowly in the morning, etc. Anyway, sorry, I must be rambling... like I said, these head pressures are getting worse. I must mention, sorry... it's gross... but I won't let myself throw up which makes feeling sick worse and the toxins in the body stay longer... yes, I'm aware of that. Just a fear of throwing up. I'm thinking about going to an neurologist. My doctor did the scan of the brain... nothing was found... just an "age appropriate brain". Now, my question... has anyone had any experience with a neurologist and the scan that they do... the little sensors on the head? I know I haven't had Meniere's as bad as some people I've read about, but I feel I can't take much more of this. Any help, suggestions, etc. would be greatly appreciated. Thank You.
