Hello, I'm new to this board and just recently diagnosed with Meniere's Disease, but the doctor believes (as do I) that I have had it for some time and it is progressing. I have already experienced a severe hearing loss in one ear and a significant loss in the other. (For me, the hearing loss came along considerably before the vertigo -- the vertigo was the last symptom I developed. Hearing loss runs in my family, though.) Although I am optimistic about being able to manage this disease by taking good care of my body, mind, and spirit, I am still bummed to have MD and have found it to make life considerably more difficult. In addition to the hearing loss & balance issues, I am finding myself pretty darned tired a lot of the time. Just looking for some support ... and if anyone has suggestions on the fatigue and balance issues, I would be most appreciative. Thanks in advance!
Hi SueBee, Sorry you have to be here, but it's the best place for learning about MM. If you are certain that you have MM, then talk to your doctor about antiviral treatment. Many of us have experienced total relief on this regimen. Here is a paper by Dr. Gacek outlining the details. http://www.mm3admin.co.za/documents/docmanager/6e64f7e1-715e-4fd6-8315-424683839664/00056616.pdf https://fhs.mcmaster.ca/otolaryngology/documents/recoveryofhearinginMeniresusingantiviraltreatment.pdf
