It's been a long time since I've been on here and my name is the same (I think) Life gets in the way and although I have had shitty times losing my mum and dad then my granddaughters going into care but I do have one thing to look forward too and that is my wedding on the 10th July the beast is a sneaky animal but so far I am winning and trying to keep calm so I don't set it off. So who is still here?
hi Amanda, I , too am not a newbie. I used to be on the boards a million years ago known as Granny Hillbillie/ CarrieOakey. I joined last month and was really disappointed that there wasn't one former member from the old days. there used to be a bunch of you Brits on here....Croftie, CrustyOldBloke, John and of course you. I was hoping to find Gardenfish, Deercharmer, Dizzjo, Sarita, pardonme, coloradohigh, tireswang, Bergie, and so many more. this current version of .org is pretty quiet. oh well I guess what they say is true... you can't go home again. Sorry to hear of your recent troubles, Amanda, but as ever you keep such an upbeat attitude. I will wear my fascinator on July 10th and pretend I am at your wedding.
I suppose it is, BumbleBea, but I hope you can appreciate that at one time this board was awesomely busy, lots of posters who almost always had each others backs. it was very international, intelligent, humourous, sometimes volatile , but at the end of the day, no cliques, no mean spititedness and always , always a lot of fun. So it was disappointing and sad from that perspective to see how it is now. However, things are often what you make them, so I agree with you..... it is time to make new friends.

I have thought a lot about your comment since I read it yesterday and am not sure how to reply without offending. I will try. I know how annoying it must be for former members to come to the new forum and bang on about the good old days. I guess I don't understand why it is necessary to make an effort. It would be cool if people simply wanted to come to the Front Porch because it was fun and supportive and a great place to be. I don't think there should be any effort. I agree to an extent that it is what you make it, but you can't force people to come here and post, so in that regard what you try to make it doesn't do much. Time for me to suck it up and accept things how they are.
It's not annoying at all and no offense taken. Maybe I didn't express myself properly. I'm sure looked forward to coming back and reconnecting. For different reasons those people have moved on. I know it's sad for you. I was only suggesting that you post and in that way form new relationships. Not that you make an "effort." Just enjoy yourself. Anyway, it's always good to see members new to this site posting. I meant that The Front Porch and Game Room just need more participation to become close to or better than it once was. I, myself, have kept in touch with people I connected with that are no longer here. Both ways are good for me. I really look forward to and enjoy seeing what posts are made!
Thanx. The black rose was getting old. Decided to go for color. Let him do what he wanted. I'm happy. OOPS, we hijacked this thread! Apologies. Catch me on another thread, girlfriend.
I loved reading the hijack actually And it was so different but change is often good and hopefully those other members we knew have left because they don't have to always fight the beast anymore
