I know I think I'm 25 but the truth is I'm 45 and as I lay in this hospital bed tonight I think it may be time for me to stop all the surfing, water skiing, snow skiing and wake boarding.

While wake boarding on Lake Keowee today I pushed the limit a little too much and busted up the knee and leg. Broke the femur bone (leg) at the growth plate and tore the ACL ligament in the knee.

Drove the 2 hours back to Atlanta (wife did the driving) with just Advil while mom and SiL kept the kids at the lake.

All is good now, they gave me Valium and morphine and surgery will be at 8:00 am tomorrow.

I think I may hang up the surfboard and wakeboard as I have gotten an earful from the wife.

I have pushed my luck all my life, but this one hit home because it could have been my back and that scares me.

Have a great night and give your loved ones a hug!!

    Aw, honey, I'm so sorry!
You have to keep us posted on your surgery and recovery!

Damn, when you do it, you do it good, don't you.

The morphine should make you feel really good, that helps.

    ((((( HUGS )))))
    Praying for you. XOXOXO

  3. You're down for some recovery. Got your name in a prayer list. Take care honey.

    Thanks Bea and Fair!!!!

Surgery went well, I got pushed back until 9:00 am but no big deal, just woke up from a long nap and my wife just left to grab a Publix sub for me and some Gatorade.

Brother was nice enough to drive up today and pick kids, mom and SIL up at the lake. About a 5 hour round trip so I owe him a dinner or something but that's ok.

Cast is neon green, pretty cool!!!
It will be on for 4-5 weeks and then into a soft leg brace for a few weeks.

Going to try and eat and go down to the 7:00 mass here at the hospital.

We're gonna make it!!! At least it was not my back, head or neck.

Bea, I have not seen my phone in over a week, I did not brink it to the lake, I am typing on my sons IPAD now so i can FaceTime tonight with the kids before they go to bed.

I get discharged anytime after noon tomorrow, feeling good and can't wait to get home tomorrow.

Hey buddy, I bet the kids are going to think the cast is a really cool color. Let them sign it first!

I'm glad the surgery went well and I'm glad the recovery period is not extensive.

Your man parts might have gotten hurt, too. Lucky that! LOL

You're brother is terrific, but I already knew that.

I bet you'll be so much more comfortable in your own home and you have an appetite which is good.

Hey, don't overdo it on the painkillers. They make you feel real good and you get used to that. Very easily addictive.

    You're in my prayers.

Well I have been out of the loop for quite a while and look what you went and did!! Hope you are well on your way to recovery. Because you are so active I am sure you will be way ahead of the game in terms of rehab. Good vibes sent your way my friend.

    Thanks Red!!!

Had a follow up yesterday evening and the Dr. said i should be back to normal October 19.

The hardest part is there are times i have an itch and cannot scratch it because of the cast.

You headed down to NSB soon?

Glad you are doing so well. I hats itches that can't be scratched ;) We usually head to NSB mid October but issues with my parents and my mother in-law are going to keep us in NH for now. Hopefully in March. By the way how did your wife and kids like NSB?

They loved it. The kids had a blast and would love to go back maybe for spring break.
