Hi - I'm starting Acyclovir tomorrow and am going to follow Vickie's suggestion about starting slow to make sure my body doesn't rebel as I am sensitive to Meds. But my question is this - I have not had an episode of aural fullness and hearing loss for almost three weeks. If I start the antiviral now - if it is the virus - has it gone into hiding and will the antiviral work? In other words - do you need to be experiencing symptoms when you start the antiviral? Does the virus have to be active to make the antivirals do their thing? Thanks Susan

My guess is if it is a virus in your inner ear and the virus is in a latent state right now the antiviral will keep it suppressed. Or the virus may react to the antiviral and give off nucleic acid which might cause MM symptoms temporarily.

These are just guesses on my part.
