In the last 8 years, i have developed cmv mono, e-b mono, shingles ( after having the shot 15 months earlier), ch which responds to antivirals. In the case of the two monos, the test results indicated that this was my first exposure to the viruses, something which would be highly unusual for a person my age.

I asked the drs and they said it may be i am not maintaining my immunities. Seems a little scary but i will let sleeping dogs lie unless i develop yet another herpes virus. I am in general in very good health for my age, knock on wood. I get regular cbc's etc and nothing out of the ordinary.

I wondered if anyone else has this history and odd lab results.

Sounds horrible. Sorry this has all happened to you. I can't relate to responding well with the antivirals, yet.

I love your spirit and your positiveness.

    Good Health to You

I've responded well to the antivirals.
One difference I see is that I've continued on a maintenance dosage of 400 mg. twice a day. It's almost two years now and I've not experienced anything like what you posted.

What concerns me is that if you're not maintaining your immune system, what do you do to remedy that?

So far nothing. And i am still here to tell the tale. I am 66. I wonder if this is maybe not that uncommon as we age.

The allergy shots do take a load off it. Before the shots, my ankles had begun to swell. Now they do not. Strange little side benefits seem to come with them.

That's good then. I guess you need to just take each thing as it comes. Small benefits are benefits. Any improvement is great with me!

Sorry to hear that June. I have not had those types of viruses, only HSV I have had so far is simplex 1 cold sores and had a lot of them when I was a young girl. I had them as an adult but not as frequent was when I was younger.

I found out about 10 years ago that I had chicken pox as a kid. My mom always said I never got it even though my twin brothers both had it. So about 10 years ago I thought I would test to see if I really never got it and it turns out I did, I guess it was such a mild case my mom never noticed?? which seems odd because she was an extremely attentive stay at home mom.

In fact the more I think about it the stranger it seems that I would test positive for chicken pox besides my mom saying I never had it I have no recollection of having it. I remember having the mumps and measles though.

I think most of us have had these viruses asymptomatically. That includes the monos and others. They sre ubiquitous.
