After all this time of having the antivirals suppress me Menieres symptoms, I find myself experiencing vertigo, nausea, tinnitus, and extreme fatigue.
I don't know what happened, I haven't changed anything. I have been busy these last two months and now things have settled down.

    I have increased the antiviral ,a maintenance dosage of 400mg. 3 X a day to 4.

Funny thing, my husband says I get it every year around this time.

    Any suggestions?
    Any similar experiences?
Here's the depressing part- after feeling "normal" for so long- this is hitting me hard.

has the increase of the av stopped your symptoms? Have you been eating any food triggers you might not have been aware of? The stress of the holidays good or bad can lead to symptoms returning.
For me I get sick every time this year starting in late Oct and takes about 2 months or so before I feel better and have to increase my dose.

I have been battling an upper respiratory infection for over 1 month now.. I almost got vertigo at the onset of it but quickly took more acyclovir and so far no vertigo. But my ear is still clogged louder tinnitus and swollen gland on my MM ear side and have a sinus infection.

Could you be coming down with something?

I have increased the antivirals but it's not helping.
Lots of stress, especially during the last two months.
Yes, my husband says this is a bad time of the year for me.

How long have you been on the 1600mg a day? It may take a bit to suppress the virus again.

also if you were under a stressful time it would have been best to increase then until things calmed down, that was Dr G's advice to me and what I do.

    For almost two years now.

Took Alka Selzer for colds and sinus. It helped with the congestion and pressure. Tinnitus isn't so loud.

Two spins today. One gave me that lovely nausea and vomiting, then to bed.

I'm going to attribute it to stress, overdoing it, not enough sleep, and a cold.

    Thank you for showing concern.

This time of year also effects me. Believe it is my allergy-type symptoms - once I get congested the ear starts up, triggers sinus infections and then the downward spiral. In previous year it was much worse for me because my job was way more stressful.

I make sure, as best as possible, to ensure that I am using my nasal sprays faithfully and doing my best to get ample sleep.

The "good news" is that you know that something worked for you so there is every reason to believe that you will get to that relief stage again.

you've been on 1600 mg a day for 2 years?

if so then I misunderstood I thought you said you just increased to it since symptoms came back.
But it seems some of us are having a hard time this time of year, allergies, sinus infections/colds, stress.

Not an empty gesture at all, thank you.

I took Alka Selzer cold last night. That must have cleared up my sinuses because, so far, today I'm not spinning. My hearing is normal and the tinnitus is gone.
Going to take things slow so I'm not messed up for Turkey Day!

Allergies will do that for sure and the seasonality of it suggests that. For me it took antivirals and allergy treatment to get rid of it all together. Have you had allergy testing?

At this time of year, i would be thinking about things like dust (extra cleaning, pulling out Christmas decorations from the musty basement or dusty attic ...). Also pine is a common allergen. Think about what little thing has been different lately.

A little off balance now and all I did was take daughter back and forth to college and kitten back and forth to Vet. Not dizzy, just "off" and bumping into walls and stuff.

It haven't done any of the other stuff. But I am really pissed at my breeder. Thus I can attribute it to stress. Stress of two months of prepping for a Bridal shower and wedding. Anytime in the past that I attended such an event...well if I wasn't experiencing vertigo before, with all those people, music, etc., I would have been brought to my knees.

I'm grateful that this is all I'm going through. Funny how our appreciation for these little things change once we have Menieres.
Allergies are not a problem for me.
I also have a slight cold.

Thank you for the concerned response.

I didnt think allergies were a problem for me either. ;) they do not always manifest themselves in sneezing and itching. But you are right, stress can do a number too. Good luck with it.

This is a bad time of year for me as well. My allergist has me taking fluconozol (flonaze) to help with weather systems. Allergies, although I'm not allergic to anything.

My aural fullness was great for a couple of weeks. But, a big low pressure system moved into our area on Sat. and it's still here. My ear went totally full during my sleep last night.

I'm running out of valacyclovir and trying to get more.

I have noticed quite a few are having setbacks or not doing as well as they were around the same time now.
I relate it to seasonal allergies and or upper respiratory viruses.

while I have been sick the past few weeks when it became worse I was very close to a vertigo attack. I quickly took another av and it seemed to help a lot and didn't have an attack. The next day my ear was full in my bad ear, my gland was swollen on same side and sinuses were congested.

Seems like spring and fall affects many us.

I took the Alka Selzer Plus for colds and I think that helped but it made me tired.

I've noticed the same seasonal issues with others, too.

    Strange thing, isn't it?
