I just ate two squares of dark chocolate and my ear is buzzing higher, faster, and louder than it was for most of this day. I have been suspecting that this happens, but something about how it went today, made it especially clear. I also noticed quite a while ago that eating particularly sugary desserts results causes more tinnitus and sometimes a stuffy ear. Such a bummer. I already have so many dietary restrictions in attempts to make all this better.

Has anyone else noticed a connection between sugar and an increase in symptoms? I already know I have viral MM, MAV, BPPV, and probably TMJ and eustachian tube dysfunction. I wonder if I could have a fungal issue too. Seems like a crazy number of disagnoses.

Dark chocolate also has a lot o caffeine, that may be part of it too. I have noticed at times chocolate increases my tinnitus but mostly it doesn't. I mostly eat milk chocolate, I have not paid attention what causes it to happen and why it doesn't happen. It might have to do with my MAV threshold, but not sure.
As for sugar other than chocolate I don't think I noticed any increase.

If sugar does that to you, you may want to be tested for a systemic fungal infection. I'm with you tho I have MM, MAV Ive had Bppv and I have a mild case of tmj. I guess we are just special ;)

once you eliminate sugar from your diet, say water for soda, black coffee, it becomes overwhelming when you eat some. go to utube and watch the 60 minutes segment call "toxic sugar". the stuff if not good for you and cutting back is not a bad idea.

I have the same attitude about sugar that I had about my mother in law, and that is/was to stay away. Very toxic indeed and if you it, either will destroy your life. One physical, one mental. God rest her soul.

I follow the Mediterranean diet but it will male you fart uncontrollably. ------but you can always blame it on your kids or wife in social settings.

Yes sugary snacks , cake, cookies all of that
Gives me tinitus and ear fullness. Sugar much
Much more than salt. I'm not even
Sure if salt bothers me . Sugar and
    Saturated fats. I take cinnomin
Pills immediately after sweets if I can't
    Resist. Supposed to help metabolize
Sugar or something like that. Also
    Great for inflamation .

Oh my! Fair2partlycloudy has left a nice, supportive response, but that rapid moving animation of the dog gives me a headache. I think it's a migraine thing, so I wonder if this happens to others here. Does anyone know if there is a setting so I can turn animations off on my screen?

Lisa, that is very interesting about the cinnomin (do you mean cinnamon?) pills. How much do you take?

Interesting what you say Dolfan. I have very little sugar. No soda for many years, not even juice often. So maybe I have sort of created this situation by having so little. Yikes! It is nice to have a little something every once and a while, especially when folks are celebrating. Just one of many limitations, I guess. Sigh.

I'm doing JOH and feel I take so many supplements as it is. I'm sure I'm missing something like D3 and others. I just don't know if I can keep taking all these supplements, but this sounds very interesting.

Thanks, Vicki! Glad to see there's a backup plan, but it is good to see the text signatures, so I really appreciate Fair2partlycloudy.
