I was diagnosed with Menieres several years ago but I guess I've never really accepted the diagnosis. That is to say, as Menieres is so difficult to diagnose exactly and there are so many other things that can cause the same symptoms I guess I am always hoping to find that it's something else that is a bit more "curable". Anyway, the ENT I see got a new machine and this involves sticking something on your head that can track your eyeball and then you have to fix on a spot on the wall while he jerks your head around. The machine then tracks how long it takes for your eye to fix back on the spot. The results came back positively confirming menieres in my right ear. But has anyone else heard of this test as I don't see anyone else here discussing it. Also, it seems to me to be more of a test of my eyes (my right eye was always my weakest) than my ears. Sometimes I go deaf in my right ear, sometimes in my left and normally when the vertigo happens I can't hear in either but of the two, it's my left that has always given me more problems.
I am not familiar with that, I know of an ECOG but this test measures the electrical potentials generated in the inner ear in response to sound.
Yes I had that done. Mine was done at the same time of another test. I had VNG and an Echochoelograph (?spelling) Mine test came back Menieres pos in my right ear and a week later I had Menieres symptoms in my left ear. One ENT said yes Menieres and another said no its Vestibular Migraines. They still don't agree. I am upset about the whole thing.
