Hi all, I completed my balance testing today. The audiologist explained each test so I would know what to expect and explained what each was for. One sounded like a Jack hammer in my ear and she said it was specifically to test for Meniere’s. Isn’t Meniere’s a collection of symptoms that, through testing for other conditions, is the final conclusion when those other conditions are eliminated? Anyway, up until that point I had confidence in the process but now I’m not so sure. I suppose I’ll ask my dr about it next week, but now I’m irritated by it. Anyone know what this test is called?
Endolymphatic hydrops can be seen on a 3 Tesla MRI. Meniere's is not a real diagnosis it's more of an umbrella term for a group of symptoms, but endolymphatic hydrops is. Ask your doctor to refer you for an MRI of the internal auditory meatus, using a 3 Tesla MRI, I don't think it can be seen on the old models of 1.5 Tesla MRI's.
