Hi, I wanted to post something interesting that I have found after finding your post.

I am 34yrs old and have been having vertigo attacks for the past 5 years, infrequent enough that I had only been to the doctors once or twice about it and sometimes my symptoms would be nothing for months with the odd attack here and there.

In the past few weeks I have had all of the other symptoms associated with Menieres disease, fullness of the ear that comes and goes each day in severity, tinnitus that also comes and goes. General feelings of nausea etc Which have lead me to believe that my situation is worstening. After doing research online about this disease and having found this regimen and reading through it I had a bit of a 'Eureka' moment.

I had recently started taking a Prenatal vitamin pack for male fertility (trying for a baby soon) along with a host of vitamins and minerals , omega 3 and an antioxidant tablet that contains Arginine. 500mg daily. This finding has led me to believe that supplementation of Arginine may be causing my symptoms to worsten.

Today I will stop taking the antioxidant pill that contains Arginine and will get some Lysine ordered to test if this eliviates my symptoms.

Thank you so much for writing this Regimen, without this I would have been at a loss for why my condition had gotten worst and this evidence in my mind validates your findings and theory that because I am taking Arginine I have advanced the light case of Minieres I had.

Yes, arginine most likely is the problem.

Arginine is an amino acid that is required for the enzyme that allows or causes herpes virus replication. However, if lysine is present, lysine is preferentially substituted for the arginine in the replication enzyme and without the arginine, with the lysine substituting for it, the enzyme is rendered dysfunctional. Herpes virus replication stops.

Hi John, I just realised that in June, my ENT prescribed some blood analysis, and among them the Igg and Igm of the herpes simplex virus. I want looking at the results and I was positive to Igg and negative to igm. Since in June I was having one of the worst periods (vertigo every 4-5 days), I was wondering if this means tha l-lisine won't work for me. If I had no active infection, it's likely that's not the cause.
    What do you think?

It is not certain that a herpes simplex infection in the inner ear actually always produces detectable igG or IgM.

The only way to determine if lysine is efficacious in the treatment of Meniere's disease is to actually try it, for at least six weeks (being careful to consume it at least 20 minutes before eating any food, or at least 2 hours after a meal).

    Hi John,
All the meds except the lysine, state I cannot take them with the blood thinner I take for Afib. I am waiting for a reply from my cardiologist. In the meantime, any thoughts or direction? I have been having severe vertigo attacks due to Meniere's since July of this year. I've been on a diuretic for a little over a month and a betahistaine for 3 weeks since the antihistamine wasn't helping. HELP!!!!

If your physicians have no concern with lysine, try it. It is the most important and useful element of the regimen, as it, alone, is able to effectively halt or weaken the replication of the causative herpes virus.

Your query is unclear. Specifically, what are you asking?

    John,
Im a late 50s male that tries to stay healthy with my diet and exercise. I supplement my diet with powdered protein that has arginine as one one of the amino acids. It has 525 mg per serving. If I'm on your regimen with the lysine, will the larger amount of lysine out pace the arginine, or do I need to back off on the protein powder?
    Thank you, RWP

If you take the lysine along with the protein powder (with the arginine) the lysine will not be fully available to disable the enzyme involved in herpes virus replication. It would be best to take the protein powder at one time each day, perhaps with breakfast; then, take the lysine in the evening, at least two hours after your evening meal. That should allow the lysine to work its destructive action on the enzyme that replicates the herpes virus.

Good Morning. I have had Meniere's for at least a decade. I have been following the JOH Regimen since I found it more than 10 years ago. It includes, Lysine (2000mg twice/day) Vitamin C (2000mg twice/day), Lemon Bioflavonoids (2000mg twice/day) MSM (1000mg twice/day), Vinpocetine (10gm twice/day), Magnesium (200mg evening), Ginko Biloba (120mg morning), Vitamin E (400iu morning). Note that the tinnitus and fullness never really left, but not throwing up for several hours with each vertigo attack was a reasonable compromise. I have not had a vertigo episode in all of that time, until earlier this week.

I see now that the regimen has changed somewhat. The removal of Bioflavonoids, MSM, etc. Also the change of the Vitamin E. Going to remove the Bioflavonoids and MSM. Going to switch out my Vitamin E to d-alpha tocopheral. Will also be adding Pycnogenol. I can update the results in a few weeks if anyone is interested.

    Hello John,

Greetings from Ohio. I am not yet clinically diagnosed with Meniere's, however following my first vertigo attack, I have presented all of the symptoms. As such, I would like to try your regimen. However, I do not know whether or not I have the herpes virus in me. I had bloodwork about 10 years ago when I had a scare of contracting the virus, but it returned negative. Is it possible that I could have been exposed somewhere without knowledge and have lived totally asymptomatic?

    Thank you.

Yes, you can have asymptomatic herpes virus infections, which are at a low level of activity. They can be centered in a number of body tissues or organs; including the inner ear.

Importantly, the lysine in the regimen is not hazardous in any way. Lysine is an amino acid, which the body accepts and utilizes in the production of proteins. Consequently, there is no hazard in giving the lysine a several-month try, to see if it can suppress the symptoms you are experiencing.

The lysine is effective only if it is taken properly, at least 20 minutes before eating any food, or at least 2 hours after eating.

And, results seldom occur quickly. It can take a few weeks to several months for relief.

    Let us know your results.

John, while you are “on the line” have you heard of people with joint issues due to the regiment? I have had issues with knees, hips and shoulders for a number of years. I have been noticing more issues in the last six months since starting this regiment along with Valacyclovir. On the positive side, have not had any vertigo or fullness in four months. I use to take glucosamine, congroitant and MSM with positive results. I stopped taking everything when I started having these issues. If these don’t have any negative impact on the regime I will add it back in. Thanks.

No, I have many dozens of accounts of the regimen working (in most cases). I have no reports of any joint problems associated with it.

Hello John - Thank you so much for all that you have contributed! I haven;t been on this site for awhile, but undersand that you have modified your recommendations. Cn you tell me where I might find your latest recommendations? Like another previous poster, I have to be careful of some supplements, due to being on Eliquis (blood thinner). Again, thank you!

Thank you Michael B! I just downloaded it. I will have to modify it, as most will not work with blood thinners (high risk of bleeding). But the C and the Lysine will work. This is sure worth a very good try.
