Old member from old forum. Years ago was thought to have menieres, found out I did not but have a question about tinnitus. Been having it since May after a head on collision, sounds like white noise as opposed to ringing most often associated with it. Seen a Nero doc and various others but basically ignored. See my ENT( one I had from before) Tuesday but am wondering what I should ask him in regards to my tinnitus. It sounds like white noise so trying to research it online is kind of a pain, given white noise is touted as a solution to tinnitus as opposed to the problem. Any help is appreciated.
Because it started after a trauma I would try going to an Upper Cervical Chiropractor. My be something "mechanical" that drugs could not help. Make sure you go to an Upper Cervical Specific: NUCCA, Blair, etc. No twisting or popping when you are getting adjusted.
My tinnitus some times has white noise behind the high pitched ringing. But since your started after a car accident, I really don't have any advice about it. I hope you get to the bottom of it.
Am not sure what white noise sounds like, but my tinnitus used to be a high pitch in right ear(my bad ear, or it was at one time) now the tinnitus is a low pitched kinda of like a low pitch hum in my left ear, and a little higher pitch hum in my right ear. The oto says I have meniere's in both ears, with hearing loss in both ears.
'Suggest you find some threads in this forum about 'High-Dosage' SERC (Betahistine Hydrochloride). Although SERC is the only drug, that I am aware of, that was specifically designed for treatment of Meniere's Disease, 'High-Dosage' SERC works equally as well for Tinnitus treatment. NB: That's not to say it's a 'cure' but, presently, it is the world's (except U.S.) most prescribed and most effective treatment. Good luck.
