Hi everyone, seeing all the major surgeries Some are having , I feel silly asking But just wondering if anyone started with Tubes in their ear, one doctor tells me it Is not going to help ear pressure and clogged Ear the other wants to try it. Just wondering If anyone had any help with them.
I have had grommets in my bad ear for the last 8-10 years. The placement doesn't hurt, the tubes themselves are not a big deal. I use a meniett device which requires tubes. I DO think they helped me some with pressure but by no means was it close to a treaetmnt or cure that had significant result. Antivirals have been the biggest difference for me. I wouldn't discourage you from the tubes though.
Thanks Gardengal, just not sure if inshoyld Consider the shunt surgery first, I tried the antivirals They didn't do anything for me. I'm hoping The problem is my thyroid since i have had to reduce My synthroid every month since this started But not sure if that's the problem I think it's wishful Thinking when you mention pressure , are you feeling The hearing is down? Like blocked?
Just a warning, and this is from personal experience only. I hade tubes for one reason only. That was instead of getting steroid injections for Dr., I was able to instill the drops myself through tubes. It helped for a time, as the injections did. That is what led to my having eardrum perforation. Left tube was in 2 years and fell out. Perforation never healed for over a year. Right tube fell out 3 months ago and large perforation formed within 3 months time. Some people get tubes and never have a problem. That was not the case with me. They did relieve some pressure, as well.
I forgot to mention that I haven't used the steroid drops in over 2-1/2 years. Antiviral shave helped me. But those tubes stayed in there a long time after.
Thanks bumblebee, I will keep that in mind I have already done the steriod injections Was not bad but didn't get the results I Hoped for but stopped Pressure in my head. Dr told me steriod Injection gel form will be Available soon with lasting results.
Lisa, hearing was only for about 24hrs after the dr put them in. My hearing is bad but it always returned to "my" normal.
