I started Acyclovir in early April. The 2400 for three weeks, the 1600 for three weeks. In the beginning of the third week of the 1600 I had a vertigo attack. So I wen back to the 2400. I felt better. My doctor said go back to 1600 beccause he was concerned about my kidneys. After 10 days (today) I had a vertigo attack. I am going to increase it back to 2400. If my kidneys cannot handle it, I guess steroid injections are next. I am very concerned because before I was on Acyclovir I had vertigo every once in a while. Now if I lower.the dose I get a vertigo attack. It is like the Acyclovir woke up the virus and it is now relentless. So almost worse than before. I hate this disease with a passion as you all do. Not giving up though just scared and discouraged.

There may be other things that put a load on the immune system as well, and if so, that is an opportunity to take some of the load off. For me, the other thing was allergies and allergy shots took off the load. Likewise caffeine. Once we are this far into it and damage has been done, it may not be just virus but that is a good thing because it means other things might help. Good luck.

Did you get your blood work back? Is there a confirmed reason for the dr to be concerned or just because he/she believes the dose is "high"?

Did not get blood work back yet. Hopefully Monday or Tuesday. I am increasing my dose any way, because that is when I feel good. I will deal with the kidney issue later. If it so affecting the kidneys I will.go in another direction.
