Well on a positive note, I really like my new PCM. She listens and doesn't rush. She was with me a good 45 minutes, which usually doesn't ever happen. She looked up all the supplements on JOH, and the only one she didn't know anything about is Vinpocetine. On the negative note, no antivirals for me. As a matter of fact, she never even received Dr. Gacek's article, which was sent a couple weeks ago. It's either still on her desk, or someone never delivered it to her. This is very frustrating. She recommended I talk with my neurotologist in a couple weeks since he's the one that is following me with Meniere's. I also found out that her husband is an ENT in the same building, which would be perfect for me. Unfortunately, he doesn't take my insurance. She did recommend I see a nutritionist as well as go for acupuncture.
How very frustrating. Is she open to the AVs once she sees Dr. Gacek's article or she wants you to talk with the other doctor about that? I've tried many kinds of healthcare with this. In my case acupuncture did not help, but one thing that did, and particularly with the tinnitus which I remember is particularly bad for you, is classical homeopathy. It also helped with the anxiety.
Well at least she listened, maybe if she ever gets the paperwork she will be more open.if possible try the acupuncture it helped me of course everyone different.
Thank you! There are a lot of things I want to try. Right now I'm trying to figure out who to go to regarding possible TMJ. I wish there were more dentists to choose from. In two weeks I'll be seeing my neurotologist, and will hopefully be given a prescription for antivirals at that time. I don't care what works, as long as something does.
Why Do you like her??? She was happy to take your money, but didn't care enough about you to read a paper or give you virtually harmless antivirals? Sounds like the typical "god complex" doctor to me.
When I presented my doctor with Gacek's paper, she said, "Valtrex? Interesting. Very few, and minor, side effects. Huge potential gain, very little downside. Sure, let's try it!" That's a real doctor who cares.
Unfortunately for my family and me, we have very few doctors to chose from. If I don't see her, there are only a couple other doctors on our insurance list. I've had a new PCM three different times in the last four years because they drop our insurance or two of them went to concierge medicine. I can't just go to anyone. If I don't choose from my insurance list, then I'm forced to go to the VA. That would be worse because then I would be stuck seeing only VA doctors and wouldn't even be able to go to a neurotologist. I'm glad you have a better doctor than I do, but this is all I've got and I have to make the best of it.
I agree with Scott Tom. The arrogance of some specialists astounds me. Particularly if you are paying them. Unbelievable.
Also I agree with Scott Tom's belief that she did receive the Gacek information but arrogantly lied stating she never received it. Don't think that her husband will be any better news for you. I would travel elsewhere to get hold of an antiviral prescription.
I would reprint the information and sit in her office until I could personally hand it to her. And then I would ask her to clarify why she wouldn't at least try it. Otherwise, similar to other opinions I don't think she did anything for you at all.
