So I hate to write this and jinx myself but I am currently symptom free for the first time in 4 months. Upon starting on valacyclovir(North Star) 3 g a day, my symptoms worsened for 2 weeks. Then one morning I woke up and most of the ringing had diminished though my hearing was still poor...a day later, my hearing fully returned, the ringing ceased and I have been symptom free now for the past 5 days. Hoping this continues, such a relief!
That's great news! You might still have some setbacks, so don't panic if they occur. It takes months before it gets solid in your system. Just keep plugging away, and don't be afraid to bump back up to the max dose during stressful days, dizzy days, or if you feel a cold/flu coming on. And make sure your pharmacy doesn't switch the brands on you.
