I was diagnosed around 9 months ago. Meniere's attacks for me mean panic attacks, vertigo, loud bang type tinnitus followed by roaring and nausea etc... I am trying to get on with my life and find that exercise (as long as I keep my head up) helps me out ALOT!!

Ok, so I got out on the water for the first time since my world literally went topsy turvy and discovered that it was ok for the most part... I was suprisesd :)... until I got out of the kayak and onto dry land. Then the nausea and ringing and panic started. Anyone else into water sports?? Any suggestions on what you do or what your experience has been.

I try to live as much of my life as I can in or on the water, my solution to this shit was to get a laby and work with somebody to save my so called good ear. So far so good.

Some of my passions include flyfishing, sailing, surfing, water skiing, swimming and this summer I am trying to learn how to windsurf.

Was dubious as to my internet whereabouts after having read the (very casual) title of this thread.

Uncertainty increased dramatically when the first line that came into sight were BD's passions. If 'long walks along the beach' had of been among them I may have been puzzled completely.

I was hit with textbook meniere's symptoms 1.5 months ago. Weekly acute attacks. Saturday afternoon my symptoms diminished with the exception of tinnitus and very little ear pressure. On Sunday, and feeling pretty good, I ran the river in my IK (Animas River in Durango, CO USA). River was at low flow (450 cfs) but still had some fun rapids. Did some IK rapid surfing in Smelter Rapid. Flipped three times and all was fine. Monday (today) morning around 3am my symptoms began to reappear, not to bad though.

Unfortunately, my meniere's symptoms started when the flow was an exciting 5,000 cfs, at least I got a few good runs in before the flow went down!

Hope you can have a few good runs now and then.

I swim and have no problems before antivirals or after. Boats literally *rock my world* so I avoid them

Swimming makes me dizzy. It takes me time to feel stable again when I am out of the water. I feel as though my legs are still moving. It may just be a matter of orientation since there is obviously some sort of breakdown in communication between the brain and vestibular system.

I can't do boats either even though I spent the bulk of my childhood and teenage years on the water with zero sea sickness.
