Well i was doing so well.. If you follow me at all on this board you may know that I started the valacyclovir and lysine treatment about a month ago. After a very rough first two weeks that were expected, I had a pretty good week up until today. In fact, yesterday was the first day I didn't take any additional medication for dizziness or anything else. Yesterday was also pot luck day at work. You can guess where this is going... I certainly bit off more than I could chew and was feeling off last night from all of the salty and fatty fare. I even drank a soda (gasp!) Had to call out of work as I woke up with a twinge of vertigo and all the other giveaways that I was going to have another attack. I double downed on all my meds and was able to wave off a full attack. But now I back to the fullness, tinnitus and a serious fog. Lesson learned!
For me, it was not an always, never thing. It was a gradual lessening of symptoms, two steps forward, one back gradually going inthe right direction. Stand back and look at the big picture week by week, month by month.
Yep, I feel like it certainly is going on the right track. Overall I can tell that things are changing in my ear, I just have to be careful and patient.
Thanks. I’ve been eating Greek yogurt every morning for a few weeks now. At least I can start my day out right. The hardest thing will be adjusting away from all the vegetables that are high arginine, I love my veggies!
Clarification, avoid foods that have a high ratio of arginine to lysine. It's ok to be high arginine as long as it's also high lysine. https://hsvblog.org/herpes-blog/diet-lifestyle-tips/chart-of-lysine-vs-arginine-in-common-foods/ Most veggies are ok. It's the nuts and fruits you have watch out for.
Thanks for that, I was wondering. I have that page opened permanently on my iPad now haha. I figure a couple grams of lysine head start helps offset the borderline foods. I need to tell my dad about the nuts, he eats them constantly and I'm sure he's not aware!
