Who says recompense or remunerate anymore?

I try to find ways to use these words, but I just can't find a scenario where compensate isn't a better choice.

Let's leave it up to our hair follically-challenged literate friend. While you're at it, Jim, please clue me in on this reference to your alien abduction.

Dude - well, just about anything

    Rad - see gnarly

    Abductie - See Jim

    Bummer - Meniere's

Ever get a word obsessively stuck in your head like a song that gets stuck in your head, and you hear the word over and over all day long and sometimes even for days, and it's often an unusual word and sometimes you have no idea why it's there because you don't even remember hearing it that day in the first place?
Or is it just another manifestation of my quirky brain?

It's a world of hope and a world of fears.
In this world that we share
It is time we're aware ...

    remunerate ... remunerate ... remunerate ~~~

Oh dear now I got them too.
It's a small world after all...
    It's a small world...remunerate...remunerate...
I'm in trouble if this is how my day is starting.
Throw in sleep deprivation and things are certain to go wonky.
