Would it be my friend, Asaph Hall?

  2. Nope. He did discover the moons of Mars but he wasn't the first.

Rats! How about Galileo Galilei ?

  4. You got it. He discovered the four "Gallilean" satellites of Jupiter back in 1610 (or was it 1609). The first and most obvious piece of evidence that not everything in the sky went around the earth. (Io, Callisto, Europa, Ganymede. Ganymede is actually slightly larger than the planet Mars, if I recall correctly.)

Some people claim to see at least some of these moons with their unaided eye.

Another proof that not everything goes around the earth was the phases of Venus, which demonstrate that it goes around the sun (although that should have been plain from watching it in the night and then morning sky). Galileo saw this as well, at about the same time.

Basically, this stuff is so easy to see the very first telescope turned to the night sky picked them up.

You get the next question, Mundo!

What are two mini-vans that offer four-wheel / all-wheel drive options?

  6. Correction--Ganymede (and Titan, a moon of Saturn) are both larger than the planet Mercury and it turns out that Callisto is only a hair smaller than Mercury.
