There is now evidence that a component of green tea, epigallocatechin-3-gallate, EGCG, strongly acts against the activities of a number of viruses, including herpes viruses. Click this link to see the report: A Review of the Antiviral Role of Green Tea Catechins Of course, it is now becoming well-recognized that the inflammation caused by herpes virus infections of inner ear tissues produces the symptoms of most cases of Meniere’s disease; in the range of 85% if such cases. As readers here familiar with my Meniere’s treatment regimen know, treatment with lysine most often brings symptomatic relief. When properly taken, lysine interferes with herpes virus replication and terminates a herpes infection. The regimen PDF can be accessed at the bottom of this webpage: JOH (John of Ohio) Regimen for Meniere's Disease details Now, it may be useful to add to the lysine a capsule or tablet of EGCG. As the report above reveals, it, too, can stop the activity or presence of a herpes virus infection. The paper states that EGCG has “Strong anti-HSV activity.” HSV is “herpes virus.” Here is a reputable ECGC product to try: https://www.vitacost.com/vitacost-green-tea-extract-standardized
The question I have is, for anyone who has had MD for many years, is the virus damage to the ear already done and unrepairable? In other words, has anyone with longstanding MD still benefited from Lysine?
The benefits of lysine (when properly taken) for Meniere's are to suppress or stop the symptoms of the disease; the dizziness and fullness. But lysine, nor anything else, cannot restore damaged hair cells that detect sound. For me (and many dozens of others), my regimen stopped the symptoms of Meniere's and allowed me to resume a normal life; except...I continue to be deaf in my left ear. Meniere's destroyed the hearing in that ear; forever lost. But no more drop attacks, dizziness, or ear fulness; now for me for over 15 years. --John of Ohio
But you took the Lysine very shortly after your symptoms started, am I right? I am trying to figure out if anyone who has had ear fullness and dizziness for many years has benefited from Lysine by seeing a reduction in symptoms (not a recovery of hearing--that is presumably lost forever). For a longtime sufferer, the virus may have already done its damage and it could be too late to stop it with antivirals.
I had Meniere's symptoms for three to five years before I devised my regimen and started to take the lysine. I have over 150 personal accounts from regimen users telling how the regimen has successfully worked for them (works for about 85% with Meniere's). Most had the disease for lengthy periods (many years) before starting the regimen. So, yes, for those who've had Meniere's for lengthy periods, the termination of herpes virus activities (inflammation) in the inner ear by lysine is successful in preventing the symptoms of Meniere's disease (except for hear loss). --John of Ohio
